Partners Mr. Liaquat Merchant, the senior partner has acquired forty years experience in the practice of law in England in addition to experience in litigation and corporate law practice in India, U.A.E and Pakistan since 1964. Mr. Merchant also served as Deputy Attorney General of Pakistan for 2 years during 1985 and 1986 and appeared in important constitutional cases for the Government of Pakistan. He resigned to resume the private practice of law. Mr. Merchant is involved in major litigation in Court as well as complex corporate work in conjunction with the firm’s litigation and corporate departments. He is the Executive Trustee of Jinnah Foundation and Quaid-e-Azam Aligarh Education Trust and is involved in several other reputed Non-Governmental Organizations (N.G.O.) rendering services in the field of health and education for which he has received the Sitara-e-Imtiaz (SI) award. He has been actively practicing law since the past 48 years, initially in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh) until December 1971 and since then in Pakistan.
